The HIWIN E2 Kit: Self-lubrication That Reduces Maintenance
What is the HIWIN E2 kit, how does its capillary self-lubrication work, how much does it extend maintenance intervals, and in which applications is it worth installing?

Lubricating linear guides manually every 100 km is practical on a machine that’s easy to access, but it becomes a problem for hard-to-reach axes, high-cycle machines, or installations with many guides. That’s why HIWIN developed the E2 kit: a self-lubrication system that drastically reduces the frequency of maintenance. Here we explain what it is, how it works, how much it extends maintenance intervals, and when it’s best to install it.
What is the E2 kit?
The E2 kit is a self-lubricating accessory that is mounted at the ends of the carriage, between the cover and the seal. It contains a reservoir of porous material impregnated with lubricating oil that is in contact with the rail. With each stroke of the carriage, the system dispenses a minimal, controlled amount of oil onto the rails, maintaining the lubricating film without manual intervention.
